On Friday, April 11, Lamar was inducted into the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
The process of being inducted into the hall of fame is by nomination. Lamar was nominated for winning over 500 games, taking three consecutive trips to the final four, and winning a national championship in 2007.
"This is good recognition for our school sports," Athletic Director Ron Hill said. "Sports are the front porch of a college and people see how Midamerica Nazarene University represents themselves through our sports."
Coach Lamar has coached at MNU for the last 22 years and produced 19 All-Americans in those years.
He himself was a player at MNU and holds the record for best free-throw shooting percentage and career assist average in a game. Coach Lamar has had a 20 game winning season for the last 14 straight years and 17 out of the last 18 here at MNU have been 20 game winning seasons.
In January Coach Lamar was honored at MNU by having the court named in his honor.
We hope and wish Coach Lamar the best of luck in the future as MNU basketball coach.
