The Pioneer Men's Basketball program moved to fourth place in Heart of America Athletic Conference after defeating Graceland University 96-77 on Thursday, Feb. 11.

The game began with both Graceland and MNU trading baskets and keeping the score close. However, the Pioneers took an 11-2 run before the half, which secured them up by 13.

The Pioneers kept Graceland trailing in the second half, never coming within seven points of them for the remainder of the game. The Pioneers kept Graceland's NAIA leading scorer Jewell Carter to 23 points on the game.

Senior Brenton Bell led in scoring with a total of 30 points on the game. Adding to Bell's totals, senior Vince Thompkins had a phenomenal dunk near the end of the game. Thompkins accounted for 12 points and 4 assists.

Senior Ben Swinger also made his presence known, scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds throughout his time played.

Freshman Lukas Weigel had 11 points and 7 rebounds on the game, while junior Andrew Crotty added to the teams totals with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

The Pioneers defeated Missouri Valley College 72-67 on Saturday, Feb. 13, before going on a 3-game losing streak. On Monday, Feb.15 the Pioneers lost by a point to Central Methodist University, falling 63-64. Then on Thursday, Feb. 18, the Pioneers fell 76-80 to Evangel, and then again away at Lindenwood on Saturday, Feb. 20, 58-70.

The Pioneers look to put the losing streak behind them as they enter the final games of their regular season. The Pioneers will next play Baker University on Thursday, Feb.25 at 7:30 p.m.
